DOZ Issue 49 November 2019 | Page 3

Editor’s Letter Dear Ladies, November is here! Are you looking back at unfulfilled dreams? If you are then you may experience regrets and lack genuine gratitude. If this is the case, then I have news for you. There is so much power in appreciation as I have come to discover. For one thing, it helps you make a shift from a place of hopelessness to a place of possibility. Recently, I was chatting with a young lady in despair. I began to probe her to discover what she enjoyed doing and how she could build a business around it. As I queried, she suddenly snapped and displayed some level of ingratitude. It never occurred to her that I didn’t have to do what I was doing as her financial difficulties were no business of mine. It never occurred to her that I was rendering her a free coaching service that others pay for. It also never occurred to her that I probed because I wanted to support her financially to start this business venture but needed to be confident that I was not about to throw money away. Because she was so wrapped up in what she lacked and the problems that surrounded her, she failed to see that help, and a solution to her problems was standing right in front of her. And she was about to discard it. An indulgence in gratitude, even for life, might have helped her see the possibilities that could arise from my discussions with her. But ingratitude left her blinded. How sad. I went on to assist her but not as I might have if her attitude had been different. It was a very humbling experience for me. I thought to myself, Eturuvie, how many times have you had the answer to your prayer standing before you but failed to see it because you were blinded by a lifestyle of ingratitude? I don’t know about you, but it is time to embrace gratitude as a lifestyle. Things may not have gone as planned this year, and we may be surrounded by unfulfilled dreams and visions, but we are alive. And life is a gift that provides us with the opportunity to turn our situations around. Let’s go for gratitude.
