Dear Ladies,
Editor’s Letter
Welcome to September!
I am very excited as this is our second anniversary
since re-launching DOZ Magazine in September
2016. When I look back, I am amazed at how far
we have come. I remember the weeks leading up
to the re-launch of the magazine; it was crazy as
I tried to work things out and it seemed like the
more I tried to move the vision from the drawing
board to reality the more disappointment I met.
Nothing appeared to be going according to
plan, and I was literally pulling my hair
out in frustration. But quitting was not an
option, so I carried on modifying plans
each time I met with resistance. The
Lord had asked me to include a feature
story in the new DOZ Magazine, and
I didn’t have anyone to interview,
and we were about a month away
from our proposed launch date. I was
exasperated, to say the least. Then, my
dear friend and sister, Carol Douglas-
Lyles came to my aid. I didn’t tell her the
mess I was in, but I guess when people
are connected to you they pick up things
even when you don’t say them. She sent
me an email saying that she would be happy
to introduce me to Karen Abercrombie who played
Ms. Clara in the movie The War Room. I had just
seen the movie and was really impressed by Karen’s
performance so, as you can imagine, I jumped at
the chance. Karen was happy to be interviewed, and
I got my first feature story and also became more
confident in approaching people for interviews.
It was exciting but frightening and challenging
doing one interview every month for
DOZ Magazine because I kept
thinking, what if I
don’t get someone
to interview? But that never happened, and God
took me to the next level, DOZ Show, where I
began releasing four interviews every month. And
then DOZ Radio, which runs 24 hours providing
inspiration for women. When I look back on the
last two years, all I can say is, Wow! God has been
good! I have been stretched, and I have grown,
and for the woman I have become, I am eternally
grateful to God. Now, of course, all this I have
mentioned would not have been possible without
you, our faithful readers, who have
become faithful listeners of DOZ
Show. So, on this second anniversary
of DOZ Magazine, I want to say,
“Thank you, Merci, Asante Sana,
Obrigada, Obrigado.” You have
been a wonderful people to serve.
This is DOZ Issue 35, September
2018, and as always, it is filled
with inspirational articles and
stories written with you in mind.
DOZ Magazine is still making its
transition from a lifestyle magazine
to an inspirational magazine. Do let
us know what you think, will you?
Our DOZ That Inspire You, for this issue
is,
Ruva Ngundu. She is a phenomenal woman
with an inspiring story, which has blessed many. It
is my prayer that you will be blessed by Ruva’s story.
She was molested and became pregnant, and that
experience changed her entire life. It was painful,
but a ministry for single mothers was birth in that
pain. Please read her interview and be inspired by
this wonderful woman and her journey.
“DOZ Chronicles: Nneka” concludes in this issue.
We hope you have been both entertained and
inspired by it.
I look forward to seeing you same time next month.
Blessings!
