DOZ Issue 30 April 2018 | Page 3

EDITOR’S LETTER Dear Ladies, Welcome to April! Happy Easter! It’s a season where we are reminded of Christ’s sacrifice and what His death and resurrection mean to us a Christians. Only a few days ago, I received a message on WhatsApp asking me to pray for Leah Sharibu, a young girl in the northern part of Nigeria who had been kidnapped by Islamic group terrorists, Boko Haram. Now, what is interesting is that Leah was not the only girl kidnapped by this group, but she was the only one denied release by the group, and she was denied release because she refused to denounce Christ. Now, I don’t know about you, but when I heard her story, I remember thinking, what would you have done Eturuvie if you had been in her place? Yes, like everyone I hailed her a hero or Shero, but I couldn’t help but look inside and do some serious soul-searching. It’s easy to say; “I won’t deny Christ,” when you’re in the comfort of your home and you reside in a country that is reasonably safe and secure but what would you do when you’re in a forest held at gun point by Islamic terrorists? I am talking about evil people who would think nothing of blowing one’s brains out or raping one or putting one through such torture and pain that cannot be described by words. I thought of all these and asked myself, again and again, what would you do, Eturuvie? And at that point, I realised that it was time to go deeper in my walk with God, go deeper in my study of His word, go deeper in my prayer life, go deeper in all things spiritual. I had to know Him more; I had to have more of Him. I had to be certain that I was so linked with Him that nothing could separate us. I thought I would share this story here and call every one of us to embark on a journey of more with God. Never think that you have arrived, keeping seeking, keep craving for more. In this journey, there is a place called forward, and a place called deeper. May we get there in the name of Jesus the Christ. Amen. We continue to pray for the release of Leah. Our God is faithful. This is DOZ Issue 30, April 2018, and it is filled with inspirational articles to help you find your God-given assignment and pursue it. Our DOZ That Inspire You, for this issue is, Adrienne Hicks Everett. She is a woman after my heart. In 2014, Adrienne was crowned Ms. US Continental. This opened doors for her to travel around the country and share her experiences to empower young people. Although a man-made crown or proclamation wasn’t necessary, because God had made her queen from the onset, it did help set her on the path to rediscovery and recovery. Adriene had always been a queen, but like many women, she had forgotten who she was. Hers is a story that will help you to discover or rediscover the queen that you are. We have a new story for you in this issue; it is titled, “DOZ Chronicles: Kemi.” It will run in this issue and the next, and we hope that you enjoy it. I look forward to seeing you same time next month. Enjoy Easter! DOZ Magazine April 2018 3 «
