Editor’s Letter
Dear Readers,
A few weeks ago, I was sitting in an airport terminal right
opposite a Caffé Nero shop. And I said to my daughter, “go
over to the Caffé Nero shop and get me a coke.” I didn’t
know if they sold any Coke, but I sent her anyway. As she
returned, I was disappointed to see that she had in her hand
a blue paper cup, you know the kind used for selling hot
drinks. “I asked for a Coke,” I protested as I reached out
and collected the cup from her. “I am sorry mummy; I heard
you say cocoa.” I sighed and shook my head. As I took a
sip, I was even more upset. “This is coffee!” I snapped. “I
am sorry mummy; I did ask the man for cocoa.” So, I went
from desiring a Coke to drinking coffee. As I sipped my
drink, which I did not want, I began to reflect on what had
happened and came up with the following lessons. One, do
not ask someone to carry out a task for which you have not
properly trained them. Two, when you communicate ensure
the person understands what you have said by asking
them to repeat it. Three, when sending an intermediary to
conduct your business, do yourself a favour and ensure that
they do not only understand your requirements but that
they ensure the person to whom they are conveying your
message understands your requirements by repeating it to
them. It will save you from drinking coffee instead of Coke.
I am pleased to place in your hands this 20th issue of DOZ
Magazine, and the 10th since our re-launch in September
2016. In January this year, I was on a journey when the
Lord spoke to me about featuring Dr. Tai Ikomi in DOZ
Magazine. I was able to find her after some rigorous
search, and today I feel very honoured to bring you her
interview. Many years ago, my father read the story of Dr.
Tai Ikomi and shared that story with me. I was completely
heartbroken that one person would go through the pain of
losing her entire family in one day! It was more than I could
handle, more than I could comprehend and although at the
time I never thought that I would have anything to do with
Eturuvie Erebor
Dr. Tai Ikomi, God had other plans. Her name never left my
heart, and so when God spoke to me about featuring her, I
knew to whom He was referring. She is an extraordinary
woman, and I count it a great privilege and honour that she
would allow me to publish her story in DOZ Magazine.
I shall leave you to read it for yourself, and I look
forward to seeing you same time next month.
