My mother-in-law , who my children called , “ Maw Smith ” was a character ! She was truly a country woman who cooked and provided for her family of three sons and her husband . She worked physically harder than any woman I have ever met , getting up early before daylight , and cooking the day ’ s meals before heading out the door to work as a nursing assistant at a local hospital .
