Editor ’ s letter

Dear Readers ,
Welcome to the month of February ! It gives me great pleasure to place this 16th issue of DOZ Magazine in your hands . Love is in the air , and to all my single sisters who are eagerly looking forward to celebrating Valentine ’ s Day with bae , I would like to share a story .
Centuries ago , a young man fell in love with a very beautiful young woman , a virgin , who coincidentally was his half-sister . He loved her so much that he became ill . Sounds very romantic , does it not ? Well , when his sister came to his home to nurse him back to health , he saw the perfect opportunity to have sex with her , against her will . After he had raped her , the “ love ” disappeared and was replaced by hate . He couldn ’ t even bear to be in the same room with her . He had his servants throw her out and shut the door behind her .
Tamar was a victim of “ love .” Amnon raped her in the name of “ love .” He destroyed her life and her future with his “ love .” But did this bother him ? No . He had got what he wanted , and that was all that mattered to him . His “ love ” was selish , thoughtless and destructive . It was no love , but lust .
I ind that many women are unable to differentiate love from lust . A man who loves you will honour you . If his declaration of love is not backed by actions to honour you , I would suggest that you have a rethink . True love leads to the altar and not the bedroom . If he doesn ' t make a commitment to you , then stay out of his bedroom before , during , and after , Valentine ’ s Day . If he can ’ t wed you , then he can ’ t bed you . You are the King ’ s daughter ; you deserve honour . Carry yourself with dignity . Only the best is good enough for you . Don ’ t allow yourself to be swept off your feet by any man ’ s declaration of love , especially when the actions that follow are not honourable . And as you make plans for Valentine ’ s Day , be sober

and vigilant so that you do not become like Tamar , a victim of “ love .”
This issue has several exciting articles written for your ediication . The highlight is DOZ That Inspire You . Here , Ria Story shares her compelling story of sexual abuse at the hands of her father . When she was 12 , Ria ’ s father told her that she was God ’ s gift to him so that he wouldn ’ t commit adultery . For seven years , he sexually abused her . At the age of 19 , Ria led from home and not even threats that she was going to hell would make her go back to the life of abuse she had left behind . With God ' s help she has risen above her traumatic past and through her story is bringing healing to millions of women around the globe who have suffered a similar fate . She is an embodiment of God ' s redemption . And I am certain that her story will bless you .
I shall leave you to enjoy it , and I look forward to seeing you same time next month .
