HOME IMPROVEMENTS DURING THE PANDEMIC
A recent article in Florida REALTOR ® magazine shared some insight into what home improvements homeowners have been focusing on during COVID-19 as they have made their homes more functional and comfortable for the long haul . Here are some excerpts :
• Almost 1 / 3 of survey respondents said that they were forced to make changes due to the new way of life of COVID-19
• Among U . S . homeowners , 76 % have carried out at least one home improvement project since the start of the panedmic , while 78 % plan to undertake at least one project in the next year
• The top motivator ? 25 % say “ finally having the time ,” 21 % say “ adding value ,” and 21 % say “ make your home feel more cozy ”
• Among the features already added or planned are high-speed internet connections , home offices and home gyms
• American homeowners spent a median amount of $ 17,140 on improving their homes since the pandemic began , with an average of five improvement projects per household
• New kitchen appliances , a home office and a patio have shown the best ROI among the projects
• Home offices will likely become more formal and outfitted to a comfortable working environment as remote jobs become a permanent fixture of society
