Downsizing in Australia - Mark O'Shea | Page 16

DOWNSIZING IN AUSTRALIA now, I suspect you are guilty of this exact situation. If not, count yourself very lucky! Living in such a large home incurs large electricity bills, gas bills, water bills, and ever-increasing council rates, not to mention constant maintenance on the home, regular lawn and garden care and, most importantly, a lot of cleaning. Some might outsource these chores (which are costly) or even rely on family, friends and neighbours to ‘help out’ on a continual basis—although many will not want to place a burden on family members. In today’s world, time and money are even more important than ever before (perhaps because we seem to have less of it). We are all so busy we are time-poor, but more importantly as the costs of everyday living keep rising at ridiculous rates, spending our money (or savings) wisely is super important. 016
