Or Tunk Mountain near Franklin with a 360˚ view of the region .
Take a swim from the crescent of sand and pebbles of Schoppe Point beach at Roque Bluffs State Park . A dip here is a delight ; in summer , you can emerge from the brisk Gulf of Maine and moments later hop into a sun-warmed freshwater pond . Stop off at the nearly 30 miles of Cutler Coast Trails , where meadows , cobblestone beaches , and steep rocky cliffs show yet another bold side of the coast .
Head to the 11,000-acre expanse of the Rocky Lake Public Land near East Machias . Hire a Registered Maine Guide and paddle down the Machias River , which connects inland lakes to the rugged , rockbound coast . Visit one of over a dozen unique and undeveloped park lands that make up the newly formed Cobscook Shores .
Head Way DownEast
