GIRLS SOCCER
Douglas quickly recovered from a season-opening loss to a power program in California and rattled off a 10-game unbeaten streak, winning nine of them.
During that stretch, the Lady Tigers soundly defeated eventual regional champion Reno High School.
Injuries cut into Douglas' depth, though, and the Tigers won just one of their final eight matches.
The season ended in a double-overtime loss to McQueen, which later advanced to the regional championship match against Reno.
Alexa Moss, Peri Buck, Abby Jens, Sydney Woodward and Grace Brooks all garnered first-team all-league honors for their play during the season.
CROSS COUNTRY
The Douglas boys team posted a third-place finish at regionals and finished fifth at state.
Senior John Munyan was a first-team all-region honoree and finished second at both the regional and state championships.
Patrick Voss, Andrew Voss, Sean Dunkleman were among the top runners in the region and are poised to form a strong core group of runners heading into 2017.
On the girls' side, Megan Ruffo, Leslee Alaniz and Maya Smith, Addison Gregory, Hannah Corgan, Leah Ramsey-Kruse and Baylee Wood all had strong seasons and are all eligible to return in 2017.
BOYS TENNIS
Under first-year head coach Rick Jenkins, Douglas greatly improved its participation numbers heading into the year, and translated that extra depth into a stepping stone toward a stronger future.
Douglas cobbled together four wins and came up only just short in losses to Reed, Manogue, Damonte Ranch, Galena and Carson.
Dylan Berke and Josh Brown were all-region honorable mentions.
GIRLS TENNIS
Douglas piled up nine wins and advanced to the regional semifinals in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the program.
Kylie Coziahr earned an all-region honorable mention
GIRLS GOLF
Aspen Smokey earned second-team all-league for her play this season and Hunter Langford was an all-league honorable mention.
Douglas didn't field a full team for the season, but both Smokey and Langford were competitive throughout the season.
