FEATURE BRIDAL RESOLUTIONS FOR 2014 Written by Sophie Smith, of ‘Weddings by Sophie’ Image Credits: www.CourtneyLouisePhotography.co.uk I’m Sophie Smith, Dotty Vintage Wedding’s very own resident Wedding Planner columnist. In each issue I will bring you tips I have picked up along my journey as a Wedding Planner, to strip away your wedding stress, inspire you and help you plan your perfect day! Being a wedding planner, I have seen many panicked brides stressing about that perfect wedding. The truth is, it doesn’t have to be that way.You don’t have to be a frazzled bride fretting about your perfect venue being booked up.You don’t have to be arguing with those closest to you and you certainly don’t have to live and breathe weddings! Follow my 2014 New Year resolution suggestions and you’ll be one step closer to that perfect, stress free wedding. 1) Stay organised. A new year is always a good excuse to get on top of all your plans and ‘to do’ lists. Start 2014 by making sure you and your hubby-to-be have a wedding timeline in your diaries and your budget spreadsheet up to date. Knowing you have your finances covered and time allocated for wedding tasks means less stress, less wasted time and more time to enjoy your engagement! 2) Take some time out. Make time for you this year; wedding planning shouldn’t occupy your mind 24/7. Give yourself time to switch off every evening. Put away the wedding magazines, log out of Pinterest and instead, read a good book or watch one of your favourite programmes. Make some new habits www.dottyvintageweddings.co.uk such as a weekly movie, yoga sessions or country walks. Even if you don’t feel you have time for this, you will be surprised at how much more enjoyable and efficient your wedding planning will be if you take time to enjoy yourself in other ways. 3) Pamper yourself. What better excuse to look after yourself than in preparation for your own wedding? I’m a firm believer that you should take an hour out every week to treat your hair to an intensive condition, your face to a luxurious face mask, and your body to a good sugar scrub. Why not start this as a Sunday evening routine, a perfect day to pamper and relax before the busy working week ahead. 36 Issue 2
