BESPOKE WEDDING DRESSES My Perfect Wedding Dress Written by Laura Greenland, Dotty Magazine Editor. When I began the search for my wedding dress, I think I underestimated the scale of the task ahead of me. I looked everywhere, but to no avail, and began to give up hope that the perfect dress for me even existed. There are a plethora of places that you can look for a wedding dress. The traditional bridal boutiques, the high street, the online marketplace, vintage markets, charity shops – the list goes on. One option that I hadn’t honestly considered was a bespoke commission, and that turned out to be my saving grace. Working alongside Annalise Harvey couldn’t have been more enjoyable, and I wanted to share that experience with our Dotty readers. Sitting down in Annie’s studio, we discussed my ideas and hopes, and she listened intently, before sketching out a quick design that ticked all of my boxes almost immediately. At the second consultation, we finalised the design having made a few tweaks and adjustments, and the next task at hand was to choose the all important www.dottyvintageweddings.co.uk fabrics that would form the structure of my dress. I can’t explain the joy of being able to flick through brochures and samples, which gave me the ability to literally build my dress from scratch. “ Working with Annalise couldn’t have been more enjoyable, & I wanted to share that experience with our readers” After much consideration, we selected a pink, silk under skirt which would go on to give my dress that gorgeous blush finish. With several layers of tulle and chiffon over the top, the skirt of my dress would be flowing and beautiful. The bodice, with its intricate ruched detailing, and statement belt finished the design perfectly, and the romantic lace shoulders added texture. The keyhole design at the back of the dress, and the silk bow were the perfect finishing touches to a truly unique gown. 50 Issue 5
