Styling and designing your
wedding theme can be one
of the most exciting parts of the
planning process. Your ideas can
be as creative and fun as you wish
- and they should be, it’s not every day that you
get to design something a little different that
doesn’t have to be totally practical!
The best place to start the design process is with
a scrapbook, or on Pinterest. I personally love
the idea of a scrapbook as it’s a unique keepsake
you can store and look back on in years to come.
However, Pinterest may be the best place to
start exploring ideas. Then, you can move to the
scrapbook when you’ve decided upon the exact
style and theme you are after. So, here are my
top tips for styling and sourcing items for your
vintage wedding.
1. Sourcing your decor
2. Your personal style
Deciding on what vintage theme to go with and what type
of elements you’d like to include is only the beginning of
the styling process; sourcing items will be the next thing
you’ll have to consider. You’ll have a choice of collecting
your own props - where you’ll use your own creative eye
to choose props which complement each other - or you
can decide to hire your items from a vintage prop hire
company.
Don’t be afraid to explain your design ideas and needs
to a supplier. They may not have rustic apple crates in
their collection, but they may be willing to invest in them
if you ask. You’re probably not the only one who would
like to hire them! Even if they aren’t willing to invest in a
new product range for you, they may be able to advise
on another company whom they regularly work with, and
whose products complement theirs.

If you go with the latter, it may be worth finding a
company who can source and provide the majority of the
elements you’re after - rather than hiring vintage china
from one supplier, vintage glassware from another, and
suitcases from third supplier. You may even get a discount
for hiring a large number and range of items from one
supplier! Choosing a company close to home may be
worthwhile as some businesses charge a considerable
fee for delivery.
