The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning ( CMAP ) is developing the region ’ s next comprehensive plan , ON TO 2050 , scheduled for adoption in October 2018 .

Draft and collaborative effort involving partners and stakeholders from across the seven counties and 284 communities of northeastern Illinois for public comment

As part of the development of ON TO 2050 , a draft of the plan has been made available for public comment at CMAP ’ s website through August 14 , 2018 . ON TO 2050 ’ s three principles of Inclusive Growth , Resilience , and Prioritized Investment inform all of its recommendations , cutting across the plan ’ s goals for community , prosperity , environment , governance , and mobility .
This draft document will be available for public comment from June 15 to August 14 , 2018 . Tri-County Access
Since the early 1960s , regional plans have singled out the need for an improved transportation link between Lake County and the northeastern Illinois region . Federal , state , and local agencies have been involved in various planning studies related to the potential Illinois Route 53 ( IL
53 ) Extension . Over the last several decades , grow increasing environmental pressures , economic dev rising congestion have increased the need for disc transportation infrastructure improvements in the completed .
A northern extension of IL-53 and expansion of IL- County could have substantial mobility benefits fo however a new consensus regarding this project ’ s and financing is needed . In 2017 , the Tollway , in co FHWA and IDOT , initiated the Tri-County Access Pr mental Impact Study ( EIS ) to address transportation needs in eastern McHenry ,
Stakeholder Involv northern Cook , and Lake
Agency and Public counties . The Tri-County Access project EIS will build on prior studies to inform the identification
