them to hear. I want every song I make to be unique and cover issues never discussed in rap music. I don't have a horror story about being raised in the streets like so many rapper's claim to have. My story involves being diagnosed with major depression at 10, first mental institution at 17, 14 rounds of shock therapy at 19, etc. I have had to battle so many things in my life that are almost never mentioned in hip hop today. I love making fun songs with wordplay and punch lines but music is such a powerful way to get a message across and I want to utilize it as a way to reach out to others who are dealing with some of the same things.
What's one trait about yourself that you don't like?
I'm very self critical.
Who were some of your biggest influences that are in the same field you are in?
A lot of emcees I rap with at the cypher motivate me to keeping doing what I'm doing just because I love it. Some of them drive from places like Durham and Apex just to be there. They don't come for promotion or to make any money, they do it because that is what they have a passion for. That's a very rare thing to see and they're motivation has certainly influenced me to work as hard as I possibly can.
