What makes you more unique than other artists?
What makes me more unique than other artists is my fan interaction. I do a weekly honoring of my fans called "Fan Love Friday's". I invented "Fan Love Friday" over a year ago and it has been a staple in my career ever since. No other artist, major or indie, has ever done this. And no other artist, major or indie, is doing it now.
What's one trait about yourself that you don't like?
I don't like being too hard on myself all of the time. It ruins my creative flow, and gets in the way of my daily routine.
Who were some of your biggest influences that are in the same field you are in?
Michael Jackson, the Foo Fighters, Ben Folds Five, Tears For Fears, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Elton John, Phish, Dave Matthews Band, and so many more..
Compare yourself to some one that is more established, who would that be and why?
Michael Jackson. I imitate a lot of rhythmic vocal techniques that he uses, but I make it my own.
What made you want to get into the business?
Again, Michael Jackson. I want to be as big as he is, if not bigger. But I want to achieve this success in the same exact manner he did...by giving his fans endless amounts of grace, love, and respect. He's the reason I treat my fans with such respect...I try to emulate everything he does from the artist aspect, the songwriter aspect, and the business aspect.
What is the most difficult thing you have had to endure in life or in the industry?
As of right now...my father has esophageal cancer...that's been really tough on me. But he's such a strong willed person, I admire his courage and his enthusiasm to beat the odds. It makes me a much stronger human being just watching him,
What is life like being a signed singer/songwriter? Has being signed to a music publishing deal changed your life?
It's been absolutely incredible. A blessing beyond blessings. Being signed has gotten me in so many doors, and it has given me credibility far beyond anything I could imagine. Jonathan Stone (the CEO of Radar Music) has believed in me from the moment he signed me and I am forever thankful to him for ushering me into the music industry.
What will you do if you chart on iTunes for a fifth time with the release of "Aria"?
Do what I always do. Keep focused, keep writing, keep trying my best to be a better songwriter, a better artist, and a better human being.
