THE AMISH FAITH
Some of the most important religious customs and elements of the Amish are unique in the tradition of religions and faith. In most Christian religions, there are churches or central church organizations, missionaries and Sunday schools (Kephart, Zellner 22). These are not found within the Amish religion, but are sometimes replaced by alternative solutions. The church, for example, is the members’ home. Each time, the Amish gather in one of the members’ family house and devote time to reading scripture, singing and praying. There is no need for Sunday schools, because each day, the Amish children learn about the religion and God in their families and in school too, and because of this, every day is dedicated to God and can be equivalent to the Sunday school of other Christian religions. The Amish grow in numbers mostly thanks to procreation, because there are no missionaries, who would try and convert people of the outside world, that the Amish way is the one true religion.
