Group winners from left to right : Portuguese Water Dog Patriot ’ s Life In The Fast Lane ( Group 8 ), Smooth Chihuahua Orlandino di San Gimignano ( Group 9 ) and Italian Greyhound Queen Catherine the Great del Barone Rampante ( Group 10 ).
Chow Chow King of Europe de los Perros de Bigo , owned by Vigo Navajon Noria of Spain .
Toys and Companion dogs were judged by the much-discussed Mr . Igor Vyzugov , who now represents Montenegro . Although he has been suspended from the RKF , I saw nothing wrong with his judging . His winner was the Smooth Chihuahua from Italy , Orlandino di San Gimignano , owned by Tuula Lehtinen-Cochetti .
The best of the Sighthounds was the Italian Greyhound from Russia , Queen Catharine the Great del Barone Rampante , owned by Petr Rodichev . This Group was judged by Mrs . Tatjana Urek from Slovenia , who now lives in the Netherlands after marrying Mr . Gerard Jipping , President of the Dutch Kennel Club .
Day Three Competition
The last day , Sunday , was certainly the most crowded . Groups 2 , 3 and 4 were judged . FCI Group 2 , the Molossers , is very large and consists of many popular breeds . The judge was Mr . Victor van Raamsdonk , the Belgian expert of these breeds and himself a famous French Bulldog breeder . He chose the English Bulldog Valleybulls Qashqai , owned by Jose Esteban Conejero from Spain .
The Terrier Group was strong , as it usually is . Terrier specialist Robert Kanas from Slovakia chose the Lakeland Terrier from Germany , Aiola v d Schönen Bergen , owned and bred by Friedrich-Wilhelm Schöneberg .
Mrs . Elizabeth Gonzalez from Gibraltar judged the last Group , the Dachshunds . The winner was the Kaninchen Wire Rudolfina Madame Chic Vitoraz , bred and owned by Jan Busta
Belgium ’ s Prince Laurent ... handed out the prizes to the BIS winner .
from the Czech Republic . Another of his little Wires won the Group and Junior Group in the Moscow WDS , so he must be a very happy man now .
Finally it was time to choose the best of all these beautiful dogs . First the Best Junior final , judged by Mr . Tamas Jakkel from Hungary , who went with the merry black and white American Cocker Very Vigie Look At Me . Second was the Samoyed from Denmark , Cabaka ’ s Danger Zone , owned and bred by Gitte Morell . Third to the Old English Sheepdog Shaggy Blue Bob ’ s Endercover Girl , owned by Erno Lindahl from Finland .
The BIS judge Hans van den Berg is well-known and popular all over the world . All 10 Group winners were present . After he had gone over each of the dogs , he told his decision to the speakers , and the dogs were sent out . The three top ones were called back , from third to first place . The delicate Italian Greyhound came in third , second place was the Chow Chow , and finally the supreme champion , the Lakeland Terrier Aiola v d Schönen Bergen . Belgium ’ s Prince Laurent , known to be a genuine dog lover , came to visit the show with his family on Sunday and handed out the prizes to the BIS winner . She received not only rosettes and plates but also a unique prize — a statue designed by the sculptor Hugo Stempfler .
The European Section had its meeting on Monday , and it was decided that in 2020 the FCI European Winner show will be held in Slovenia . The next three shows have already been decided : 2017 in Kiev , Ukraine , 2018 in Kielce , Poland and 2019 in Wels , Austria . DIR
