Q: What is a gentleman to you?
Perhaps it’s just because I prefer a sporty look myself, I think being a gentleman is
more in how you carry yourself than in how you dress. As an entertainer, I meet a lot
of people with fine or discerning tastes in things, and usually you can tell if they have
high class tastes even when they are really casually dressed or just coming from the
gym. Not necessarily by what they are wearing, but in the kinds of things they talk
about, the quality of the conversation they offer, and their level of knowledge or expertise on a range of topics. I think being a gentleman encompasses not just this, but
also things like having good dinner or social etiquette, knowing how to properly tie
different kinds of ties, and/or knowing how to engage a wide variety of people on a
wide variety of topics. In short, a gentleman is an excellent social chameleon, who
always knows how to carry himself to impress regardless of the kind of people who
surround him. A proper gentleman leaves other people feeling better for having met,
spent time, or spoken with him.
Q: What is the most expensive item you have purchased?
In general, while most of my wardrobe is sport-oriented, I do love nice leather jackets.
The one I have right now was about $2000 or so. That’s probably the most expensive
clothing item I have at the moment. That fact aside, most of my other wardrobe is
rarely over $100.
Q: What is your favorite item of clothing?
If I had to choose one, it would either be my current pair of Nike Free’s or my Ralph
Lauren hoodies. I love them both. The Ralph Lauren hoodies are really warm, and they
fit my frame incredibly well. They are really loose-fitting and comfortable without
looking too big or baggy. As for the Nike Free’s, I just love how light they are, and the
fact that I can wear them all day without a thought. I have had a few pairs of really
cool Nike Air Force ones, but they were always too heavy. In Tokyo (much like NY), you
spend an incredible amount of your day up and walking around in the city, so if your
shoes are too heavy or uncomfortable, it really wears you out.
