Los Angeles-based company, Kokomo Clothing is expanding its eco-friendly t-shirt line with the introduction of its first Men’s collection printed on fabric made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles.

Kokomo is committed to making beautiful clothing without harming the environment. To reduce their carbon footprint, all manufacturing is done locally: everything is designed, sourced and produced in sweatshop-free facilities in downtown Los Angeles, California.

Additionally, instead of traditional fabric printing processes, which use harsh chemicals and water, clothing is printed using dye sublimation, a full-colour, digital technology. Workers and the environment are protected as there is no need for water and the inks are non-toxic. The result is a virtually permanent, full-colour, high-resolution print that will not crack, fade or peel under normal conditions.

Another advantage of dye sublimation is its ability to print on fabric made of post-consumer, recycled plastic bottles. Use of recycled fibres reduces waste destined for landfills and also preserves resources such as oil and energy. Unlike the past, today’s polyester is breathable and as luxuriously soft as cotton. Kokomo’s vision of using sustainable and responsible production methods is as important as creating unique designs that are timeless and wearable for years to come.
