hile beards and moustaches seem to be the style du jour, almost every man still shaves. It is practically a daily ritual, even for those with
groomed facial hair. What I propose is to incorporate a few simple
steps in your shaving routine and see if you can’t produce a closer,
smoother shave while enjoying the process a little more too.
The first step is very easy. If you use an electric razor, throw it in the trash. Today.
Never in the history of shaving has an electric razor performed as well as a blade.
This article will focus on improving your wet shaving with a slant towards single lade

shaving using either a double dged safety razor or a straight (cut hroat) razor.

One of the most important things you can do to start your shave off right is take a
shower prior to shaving. If you aren’t able to take a shower, make sure you at least
wash your face first using warm water. Your facial hair will absorb the moisture becoming softer and easier to shave.
Whether you wash your face in the shower or simply wash your face alone before
shaving, it is important to use a cleanser that exfoliates. Exfoliation is not just for
the ladies. It’s the removal of dirt and dead skin cells to keep your living skin cells
healthy and looking their best is a process of exfoliation. The two best ways to do this
daily without irritating your skin are to use a mild scrub or a face cleanser with glycolic acid. Most mild scrubs use jojoba beads and are gentle enough to use every day.
Glycolic acid is an alpha ydroxy acid. In fact, it is the smallest of the alpha ydroxy ach
h
ids. This helps it to deeply clean your pores and remove dirt and dead skin. Additionally I have found that a mild scrub will help lift my facial hair and make it even easier
to shave. If your face can handle using a mild scrub every day, I recommend that. If
you have more sensitive skin, I would suggest using the glycolic acid cleanser.
A well uilt lather will make all the difference in your shave. Using a brush with a
b
high uality shaving cream or shaving soap, even if you use a cartridge razor, will help
q
exfoliate the skin further and provide a better lather. The chemical aden stuff in the
l
aerosol can cannot come close to the glide and cushion produced by a superior cream
or soap. Building the lather will take an extra minute or two, but, I assure you, it will
be worth it.
As I said in the beginning, this article will take a slant towards single lade shaving,
