CANDY CANE COMFORT
When I visit a Disney Park , convenience and budget are my top considerations for lodging . After all , I ’ m simply putting head to pillow there at night , but my 16-hour days are largely spent inside the parks . Candy Cane Inn , however , makes a compelling case for a lazy day where you might never get out of bed , save to grab breakfast and soak in the hot tub .
The standard rooms are plenty spacious , with two comfortable queen beds and ultra-soft pillows ( and more to spare in the wardrobe ). You ’ ll find typical hotel amenities inside , including a coffee maker , mini fridge , and iron and ironing board . Each room offers an armchair , but during my stay , it quickly became a place to throw my dirty clothes . There ’ s also a desk with a chair , though long-legged travelers like me will have trouble fitting ; I tried to write this at the desk , but my knees were unpleasantly crammed against the underside , so I relocated to the bed .
The design of the rooms is nice . Orchid artwork hangs on the walls and , alarmingly , explodes on a canvas-like wall behind the toilet . Light wood-toned furniture fills the space , a nice contrast to the dark-stained linoleum floors . A single rug between the beds with Mickey-shaped outlines is the only indication that you ’ re on a Disney vacation inside the room .
I found myself spending a lot of time outside my room , however , and not only at the parks . The motel has a fitness center , though I didn ’ t set foot inside ( I was already eating my weight in doughnuts at breakfast ; working out seemed futile ). I did , however , spend much of my afternoons and evenings at the pool . Almost every time I soaked in the hot tub , I was the only one around . And kudos to whoever put together the playlist for the pool area ; while taking a relaxing dip , I heard a mix of Fleetwood Mac , Alanis Morissette , Phil Collins , Blues Traveler , Sugar Ray , and Mark Morrison ’ s 1996 hit , “ Return of the Mack .”

Overall , I quite enjoyed my stay at Candy Cane Inn . Though I wish I ’ d seen the motel in its kitschy 1950s heyday , the upscale remodel offers a lot to love , at affordable prices . From the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet to the convenient trolley to the bangin ’ playlist in the pool area , Candy Cane Inn offers all the comfort and convenience you could ask for on a trip to Disneyland .

Feast your eyes on this tiny but tasty holiday Mickeyshaped peppermint pin . Though small , the peppermint contains no screen print details and instead showcases three colors of white , maroon , and bright-red hard enamel to make up the iconic sweet colors .
