What was the creative spark that pushed you to form the band? We all love that traditional old-school style of metal and it wasn't really popular at the time. We had all been in our fair share of Black Metal, Death Metal and Thrash bands, but we were wanting to create the style of music more rooted in the stuff we grew up with and listen to. With that idea in mind we began formulating our own style. Setting the foundation of traditional metal and incorporating the best parts and influences we had picked up from playing other styles of metal. Bringing the intensity and musicianship of modern extreme metal and combining it with the melody and instant catchiness of classic metal. How often are you guys able to get together and practice? We try to get together as often as possible but with the distance of some members its not as much as we would like. Robert and I live down the road from each other so we are able to kill a few beers and plug in the guitars quite often. When we have something going we send those parts to Scott and Robb. We can then get together in a rehearsal studio and hash out those parts. What got you into music, and what are your influences? Familiar story for a kid my age. Late 70s, saw posters and magazines of KISS and I was immediately drawn to it. The grocery store used to have a little Record section back then and I would browse the album covers. Looking at stuff like Ozzy Osbourne's Blizzard of Ozz LP in full 12"x12" glory. When Twisted Sister and Quiet Riot started getting airplay on MTV, I immediately picked up those albums and started buying magazines for Motley Crue and Ratt posters. In those magazines I started to see the rumblings of Thrash like Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax. I soon was full on Thrash Mode and Crossover Thrash. Then from one of the Ads, I ordered Venom "Black Metal" and it was all downhill to Hell from there. Venom are the root for everything. What sacrifices have you had to make to do what you love? Basically lots of money and work. But its all worth it when you step on that stage to play the songs you've been working so hard on. How did you come up with the name of the band? Band was named by Robert and Michael Lance when they first formed. Metal fans are outcasts of society, loathed yet revered just as Witches were in the villages. To be marked as a witch meant certain death. We wear our mark proud and would die for Metal.
