Please introduce yourself and the other members of the band, and what their spot is in the
band.
I’m Brian McGuckin, I am the drummer for Coven 13. We have David “Ragnar” Landrum here on
vocals. Roger Cyrkeil on bass guitar, along with Todd Kreda and Richie Karasinski on rhythm and
lead guitars.
How long have you guys been together?
Well Roger formed the band back in late 1985 with Todd and David. I joined the band in early
1986. We were together from 1985 to 1992. We broke up and went on our separate ways until
2005 where we did some successful reunion shows in Detroit. We went into hiatus again until
2010. We officially reunited with all original members plus Richie. Richie has sort of always been
a hidden member of the band. He helped with writing songs with us in the past, but never joined
the band because he was always busy with his own projects and didn’t have much time for to be
in Coven 13.
What was the creative spark that pushed you to form the band?
It was Roger who created this project. He was in a band called “The Trial” that were originally
from Detroit but moved to L.A. The band had short success but quickly disbanded. Roger returned from L.A. and was determined to create a new project back here in Detroit. He was the
spark which ignited this project. Roger was definitely on a mission back then.
How often are you guys able to get together and practice?
We try to get together at least once a week if possible. At the moment we are working on new
material for the next record, so hopefully we can get together twice a week to do so.
