1 . H i t h e r e ! To s t a r t t h i n g s o f f, w h a t d o
you think makes your Galantis project
different from all your other projects?
Well we think all our other projects and
a l l t h e o t h e r t h i n g s w e’ ve d o n e h ave l e d
up to this. It brought us here.
2. What is going on for the two of you
in 2016?
We’ r e t o u r i n g a l o t i n 2 0 1 6 , a n d t h e ye a r
i s g o i n g t o b e a l o t a b o u t t h a t . B u t w e’ r e
also going to release a lot of new music
t h a t w e’ ve b e e n w o r k i n g o n .
We’ r e
definitely ready with new material.
3. What is it like working as a DJ duo?
Do you two butt heads often?
I think it depends on who you work with.
In this case it’s the most perfect set
up. We work very well together and it’s
very easy to do. And I think it’s one of
the main reasons why this is going well.
Otherwise, you just eat each other up
almost. We do a bit of everything; we tag
team on each other with different tasks.
We feel whatever is best for Galantis
is going to win, and of course there are
always situations whether we should do
something or not. And if we both don’t
k n o w, t h e r e’ s a l w ay s t h e m a n a g e m e n t
who helps us.
4. Let’s talk about music. What’s the
inspiration behind your famed track
“Runaway”?
Well that song is kind of special in the
sense that for a long time, it was almost

like three songs and we tried to fuse it
into one. It took us a long time to try
and make it one. And there were a few
moments where we almost gave up on
it, because there are all the verses and
the drop from three different songs.

5 . Ta l k u s t h r o u g h h o w y o u c o n s t r u c t a
song from the ground up? What is the
process Galantis has for creating hits?
I think the process for any Galantis
s ong is pretty much the same. We don’t
l o o k a t e a c h s o n g d i f f e r e n t l y. W e t h i n k
music is music and I think the process
that we do is different from acts and
artist in this genre because first of all
we start with the songwriting, mostly
g u i t a r a n d p i a n o o n l y. B a s i c a l l y a l l o u r
songs are ballads in the beginning and
stay a ballad for a long time. So when
we release the track it feels fresh.
P r o d u c t i o n i s s o m e t h i n g t h a t w e’ ve
done for so long so we rely on our tools
to do that so we focus on songwriting
a lot. And I think you can hear that in
our music.
6. Speaking about songwriting, are
all your songs based on personal
experiences or your travels? Do they
come from a personal place?
More or less, it depends, sometimes
you work with another songwriter and
they have an idea and you build from
that. But it’s kind of like, more or less
poetry; you use words and melody to
sculpt it. It’s like molding something
s l o w l y.
