Speak Up
The decision to create Mile High Sounds
literally happened over a period of 3 days
while I was in Chicago for the Ableton
Certification Event in 2009. The facility at
which the event was held in (Music Industry
Workshop, Chicago) was truly inspirational in
that it was both a learning centre as well as
featured a kick-ass studio. Furthermore, the
people that formed the team and their service
offerings seemed to work harmoniously as
one.
Based on my research, apart from the nowclosed SAE in Malaysia and ICOM, there
were not any other certified offerings
for music production, and there were no
short-term intensive learning options for
students wishing to gain knowledge in
core music production + sound engineering

months) as opposed to taking 20-24 month
certificate / diploma programs.
The Production Education at Mile High is
awesome - mainly because of the types of
students that we get, and of all ages. They
come to MHS with the desire to genuinely
learn how to make their own music the ground
up, and we take pride in developing their
skills to a point that they can even make their
own sounds and don’t have to rely on presets.
Utilizing Ableton Live, this course caters to
individuals wanting to understand the finer
details of sculpting sounds to bring out the

& music as well as recording techniques, plus
practical application of these fundamentals
to the students’ own music, leads them to
creating more polished productions - not just
in terms of quality musical ideas, but pristine
sounding songs.
I see a shift for EDM production moving
towards arrangements with more organic,
