The month of March ending quicker than expected, let’s have a quick recap of
the month and have a discussion. With unfortunate news of a particular event’s
cancellation, the main questions lies on where is Malaysia’s dance music industry
really headed?
As the dance music community keeps growing bigger and bolder in Malaysia,
more local talents rise to follow their passion for arts and music. But, there are
bound to have certain hiccups in this scene, as it is still fresh and upcoming. This
industry has been under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons as it is said to be
closely involved with illegal substances, alcohol affiliated and being an overly
westernized culture.
Let’s move forward and find some insights towards the issue.
Here are some questions to discuss and share your thoughts with your friends and
us as well:
1. The dance music scene has been highly associated as a negative and uneducated
scene. What can the public do to create a better and livelier scene among each

2. Event organizers play an important role of creating a platform for artist to
p e r f o r m , g r o w a n d e s t a b l i s h t h e i r n a m e i n t h e i n d u s t r y. H o w d o y o u t h i n k e v e n t
organizers can play a role of growing this industry for future local talents to
shine?
3. The government acts as a crucial catalyst to either grow the industry or to
s h u t d o w n t h e i n d u s t r y. W h a t d o y o u t h i n k a r e s o m e o f t h e p o s i t i v e o u t c o m e s
o f t h e d a n c e m u s i c i n d u s t r y, w h i c h c o u l d c o n t r i b u t e t o t h e g o v e r n m e n t a n d a l s o
towards the country?
4. As the dance music scene is mostly seen as negative in the public’s eye, it does
reflect the attendees as well. As an individual, are you playing your part to keep
the scene clean and healthy? How can you be the difference that the industry
need?
