Emcee of The Month
Jan Gregory Hamilton formerly known as MC Quickload , truly understands what perseverance and patience means as he faced multiple hardship during his early days as an emcee . From emceeing at bars to top-notch clubs in KL . It doesn ’ t even stop there as he shared the stage with prominent local DJs such as Goldfish & Blink , ChukieSS & Whackboi , H3 , Ramsey Westwood , and international DJs such as Steve Aoki , DJ Bl3nd , Wolfpack , DJ Chuckies , and more . Clearly MC NOIXE shows no signs of slowing down just yet ! We ’ ve caught up with MC NOIXE to talk about his passion for emceeing and his future plans in this industry .
1 . Hi , tell us the story of you becoming an emcee . Did you stumble into the industry or was it a dream of yours ?
Honestly it ’ s just passion that was my drive , passion for rap music and passion for hip hop itself . It all started out when I was still a teenager . I had this burning passion in me , so I decided to make full use of it . I walk into the night clubs and started mingling around with the managers of the premise and asking them for an opportunity to emcee at their premises and I must say it was by LUCK that I got gigs after gigs because it was really tough back in the days . Those days , DJs were emcee as well so penetrating the market seemed impossible but with LUCK and my skills on the microphone , it got me to places , I earned respect from many and ever since then I ’ ve been keeping up a household name for myself . I can actually say I ’ m living up to my passion a day at a time .
2 . How would you describe the ‘ MC NOIXE ’ experience ?
A very good question to be honest , all I have to say is “ The NOIXE is speaking for itself ”, but on a serious note the experience is overwhelming at times . I ’ m just blessed with this God given gift to me .
3 . Who or what has been your inspirations and influences ?
First it ’ s definitely my family that inspired me to be the entertainer that I am today , I ’ ve had their support since day one because they ’ ve never been against what I wanted to do . It ’ s pretty common that some people would say Tupac Shakur ,
B . I . G & etc . As for me I took up to local hip hop stars as my source of inspiration . Poetic Ammo , Too-Phat , Teh Tarik Crew , Rebel Scums , Balan Kashmir , Chakra Sonic , MC Syze , DJ Rage , DJ Double , DJ Alvin-J and also MC Vibe . These guys are the reason why I ’ m doing what I ’ m doing and love what I do . They inspire me to inspire myself day in day out without fail . Balan Kashmir played the biggest role in my career as a emcee , He made sure that I did not put my talent to shame or waste .
4 . Tell us about your plans and expectations for the rest of 2016 ?
I just signed with a label called Asia Agency this year so we ’ re currently working really hard on getting me on tours and the plan is to just go around the world and hit gigs after gigs from club scenes to major music festivals . My first international gig that we ’ re working on right now is on the 26th of March 2016 , it ’ s a music festival in Sri Lanka , my team and I are just looking forward to this at the moment . Apart from that you can actually follow me up on social media regarding my future gigs .
5 . You ’ ve been in the running for “ Best Emcee of The Year ” award by Choons Awards for several of years now . How does that make you feel ?
PROUD ! I ’ ve always been considered an underdog by many but its safe to say now that I ’ m running with the big boys in the industry .
6 . Do you have any usual routines before a show ? How do you prepare yourself before a big performance ?
I ’ ve yet to overcome the fear of being on big stages , so what I usually do is I pray , drink lots of coconut water and then get on stage . The biggest challenge is when I ’ m going to be performing at an event with DJs I ’ m not familiar with . So , I take a few days before the show to listen to their online mixtapes and get used to their sound and their style of playing .
7 . Do you have any tips to share with young and upcoming emcees in Malaysia ?
Always have a good work ethic . Don ’ t get drunk while working , drink lots of water and most importantly don ’ t be arrogant or stuck up with people because they
