Using the natural sounds of Borneo and electronic elements, this Sarawakian-Iban DJ / Producer strives nothing but perfection when he produces! He’ s been in the industry for quite a while in the Borneo side and has much more to offer. Get the inside scoop of this up-rising Borneo artist and his plans for 2016.
1. Tell us about your journey towards becoming a DJ / Producer.
Before I started DJing, I was a guitarist for a band. I started playing a guitar since I was 9 years old and after tha, t I started picking up drums after a while. My music career began when I had to perform in a church’ s gospel group. Followed by that, I’ ve formed a band that has been quite active around Kuching. After a while, I’ ve decided to quit the band and I moved on to electronic dance music from there.
I started producing when I was in the band and I used FL studio to create some music using the software. We couldn’ t afford to produce music in a proper recording studio, so we decided to do a home recording studio instead. In 2009, I started using music theory, which I gained during my time in the band and used it to produce EDM tracks. I started DJing first and afterwards, I started producing my own tracks.
2. Which DJ / Producer inspired you the most?
It would have to be Deorro. His styles consist of a great drop followed by the snare roll on the drop, which compliments the whole track. I like the energy in his tracks, which is very refreshing from my point of view.
3. What’ s keeping you busy in 2016? facebook. co / myvaxmyvax soundcloud. com / myvaxmyvax
2016 looks like a good year to do more producing. I’ m looking to be signed under a record label, hence I will be busy sending my demos to multiple record labels and hopefully I will get signed soon.
Some of the plans I have in mind consist of traveling around the world to spread my music and my artwork
