Growing the brand
Franke Holding wrapped up its first acquisition
on the African continent by acquiring City Metal
Products (CMP), which previously belonged to
Boumat Ltd. The company acquired the leading
manufacturer and distributor of sinks and sanitary
products in South Africa.
Over the last three decades, CMP managed
not only to consolidate its position as a market
leader through local acquisitions, but also to
adjust successfully to the economic changes
in South Africa. In previous years the company
invested intensively in the new production
technologies and launched new products for
the export market. The company continues to

renamed to Franke Kitchen Systems (Pty) Ltd,
trading as Citimetal and is active in the Kitchen
Systems Division, as well as in Washroom and
Sanitary Equipment.
Making use of the technically advanced
mono-block technology, the business produces
a competitive ranges of quality inset sinks. In
particular, during the later part of 2000, Franke
Kitchen Systems (SA) introduced the new range
of Quinline inset sinks. This range of 500mm
wide Monoblock sinks produced in South Africa
features bigger bowls and soft line edges.
Making extensive use of CNC design facilities,
it designs its products in-house, ensuring that
its products meet international standards. The
company also runs a modern tool room to
ensure that new products can be developed
and existing tooling is maintained. Components
for specialised products such as hospital and
catering products are produced using CNC laser
cutting technologies. CNC laser technology
ensures consistency in terms of dimensions and
enhances quality.
