DivKid's Month Of Modular Issue #8 May 2016 | Page 8

To kick things off here's the 'Random Grooves' video from the Modular Podcast patch examples mentioned earlier in this magazine. The idea was to create a series of random but in time rhythms that can be locked / looped with the Abstract Data ADE-32 Octocontroller and set against a basic house/techno drum beat. These can then be unlocked and left to play randomly with different intertwining rhythms all sharing the same clock. Click HERE if you'd prefer to watch the video on YouTube.

Next up is the first module overview to come from me for a while and it's something I've been having loads of fun with. The Bateleur VCO / VCF and expanders from birdkids. It simply sounds FANTASTIC! Great oscillator and filter combo which always just seems to be super musical and useful for a wide range of tones. Check out HERE or hit play.

Since the last feature of my work with Future Music Magazine in here there's been two videos go public on their YouTube (I add these to my channel HERE). The first is on the WMD PDO. I love a bit of phase distortion synthesis and with the TBVCA expander there's a lot of tones to be had from it. Don't sleep on the PDO and it's expanders as there's loads of cool tones to be had. Different to a lot of digital oscillators and very different to an analogue oscillator. Even though this is analogue at the core with digital control. Click HERE to check it out.

Next up from the Future Music videos from me is a look at going beyond the basics of a Minimoog based system with the AJH Synth MiniMod series. I love the AJH MiniMod series. cCan't stress that enough, and playing around with two with some basic and slightly more advanced topics (or ideas beyond the basics if you prefer) is good fun. Click HERE to play on YouTube or like the rest of the videos in the magazine hit play right here.
