DivKid's Month Of Modular Issue #8 May 2016 | Page 4

First off in the news is one of two events I wanted to highlight from conversations I've been having with friends lately. Cymru Beats 2016 is happening on June 18th and 19th (not long to wait) in Cardiff, Wales. They've got performances from Eden Grey, Nick Batt from Sonic State, Thighpaulsandra and more! There's also a screening of I Dream Of Wires and a free prize draw. I've met Simon who runs the shop and he's a great bloke full of enthusiasm and I'm sure with his energy behind it, it'll be a great event. So for those that can be, be sure to head along. All the information in on their website - cymrubeats.com/event2016 - and there's a Facebook event page HERE.

Recently announced by Happy

Nerding in a new 6 channel

panning mixer that's currently

unfolding nicely with features

and ideas over in THIS Muff

Wiggler thread. It's called the

PanMix and features CV over

either panning or level (a great

space saver as I definitely

don't need both at once in

most cases) and it features

concentric pots (i.e. those dual

tone pots you sometimes see

on guitars, see the pictures) to

control volume and panning across the 6 channels as well as stereo output and headphone out. There's discussion about the output stage regarding headphone out and volume control on the thread and Igor from Happy Nerding has mentioned a mute expander in the works too. Not sure about you lot but I'm looking forward to check the module out. Looks great for sub mixing or as an output mixer. The knobs and pots pictured by the module are the 'concentric' pots that are likely to be used, a dual pot with one coming up through the other.

Polaxis over at polaxis.be have brought back

to life some more lo fi speech options into

eurorack with their new module the Taiko.

I've just received one and with only a quick

play around so far I can see this is going to

repeat and VCO. Speech mode starts with a

gate signal and plays the full sound giving the

speech full priority. This means it won't restart with a second gate or trigger until the speech is fully complete. Repeat mode starts and stops when a gate signal goes high or low, giving the gate signal the priority over playback. VCO mode produces a steady note while the gate is high.
