Well, the result is a shaky, blurry mess because I can’t hold a camera right. But beyond that you can hopefully hear what I described above. The bass note’s CV is hitting Tides’ FM input for modulation, but of course any of Shape/Slope/Smoothness would have worked just as well. I kept the voices in the modular simple (two semi-modulars, with no cables) so that the patch cables only refer to what’s in the diagram above, apart from getting the voices to my ES-8. Effects were done in the box.
And again, there’s nothing saying the bass MM couldn’t be another MM instead of a shift register – I just got lazy. But if you do use another MM for this, use the quantized CV out rather than the LFO itself, so that the treble sequence chances when the bass note does.
