Synopsis: The Methodology,
Measurement, and Statistics
(MMS) Program is an
interdisciplinary program in the
Directorate for Social,
Behavioral, and Economic
Sciences that supports the
development of innovative,
analytical, and statistical methods
and models for those sciences.
MMS seeks proposals that are
methodologically innovative,
grounded in theory, and have
potential utility for multiple
fields within the social and
behavioral sciences. As part of its
larger portfolio, the MMS
Program partners with a
consortium of federal statistical
agencies to support research
proposals that further the
development of new and
innovative approaches to surveys
and to the analysis of survey
data.

Synopsis: The goals of the
ADVANCE program are (1) to
develop systemic approaches to
increase the representation and
advancement of women in
academic STEM [1] careers;
(2) to develop innovative and
sustainable ways to promote
gender equity that involve both
men and women in the STEM
academic workforce; and (3) to
contribute to the research
knowledge base on gender
equity and the intersection of
gender and other identities in
STEM academic careers. The
ADVANCE program
contributes to the development
of a more diverse science and
engineering workforce because
of the focus on equity for
STEM academic faculty who
are educating, training, and
mentoring undergraduate and
graduate students and
postdoctoral scholars.
Synopsis: Art Works: Creativ-
ity Connects grants require a
partnership between an arts
program and a non-arts organi-
zation. The Arts Endowment's
support of a project may start
on or after June 1, 2018. Gen-
erally, a period of performance
of up to two years is allowed.
An organization that submits
an application to Art Works:
Creativity Connects is still eli-
gible to submit an application
to other National Endowment
for the Arts funding opportuni-
ties. In each case, the request
must be for a distinctly differ-
ent project or a distinctly dif-
ferent phase of the same pro-
ject, with a different period of
performance and costs. An
organization may submit only
one application for an Art
Works: Creativity Connects
grant. Program Description
Creativity Connects is an initia-
tive that shows how the arts
contribute to the nation’s crea-
tive ecosystem, investigates
how support systems for the
arts are changing, explores how
the arts can connect with other
sectors that want and utilize
creativity, and invests in inno-
vative projects to spark new,
collaborative ideas.
Synopsis: The OOI is a large
scale ocean observing system
constructed and deployed under
NSF sponsorship and oversight
as a Major Research Equipment
and Facilities Construction
(MREFC) Project. The system
includes an integrated network of
cabled and uncabled arrays of
instrumentation, distributed in
various coastal and global ocean
locations, to facilitate Ocean Sci-
ence research. Since construction
was completed in 2016, the OOI
has been in operational status at
an approximate funding level of
$55,000,000 ($55M) per year.
