The fi gure ground analysis iden fi es exis ng building footprints on each block in an eff ort to show current
pa erns of buildings that create more defi ned space and street presence. As opposed to the auto footprint
analysis, areas within a small-block urban context that have defi ned building pa erns can generally present a
more posi ve visual character and iden ty.
