divingEurope 2020
Dear reader,
since the very early beginnings
of scuba diving, the Spanish
Costa Brava has become the
destination of dreams of many
European diviers. The „Wild
Coast“ starts just behind the
French border to Spain and is
almost 160 kilometres long.
Right in the North we find one
of it‘s hotspots: the national-
park of Cap de Creus.
There the mountain pushes
into the western Mediterra-
nean Sea like a rock nose. In
terms of biodiversity the un-
derwater world is hardly to top
thanks to the influence of the
Gulf of Lyon. For this reason,
in 1998 the Catalan govern-
ment established an area of
almost 140 square kilometres
as a nature reserve. Thereof,
approximately 30 square
kilometres are a marine area.
Exactly in the heart of it there
is the beautiful bay of Cala
Joncols with the homonymous
family hotel and a Euro Divers
dive centre. For a long time
the place has been regarded
as one of the „insider tips“ for
an international diving guild,
who like to enjoy the tranquility
above the waves as well.
2020, Euro Divers opened
another dive centre not far
away from Cala Joncols in the
harbour of Rosas. Both the
facilieties bring their divers
to the hotspots around Cap
Norfeu.
This divingEurope Special
Edition tells you what that me-
ans and why Cap de Creus is
„a place to go“.
