In autumn , several dozen pubertal groupers perch on the reefs and can be watched from close up
eagle ray that is known from the tropics . The most common species occurring in the coastal waters of the Eastern Atlantic is the so-called Common Eagle Ray ( Myliobatis aquila ). This kind is easily recognizable by his prominent head . Good for divers : The animals love shallow coastal waters , even if it is known that they swim down to well over 500 metres of depth .
Even more frequently , one of many divers ‘ absolute favorites can be seen : we are talking about the grouper . During our visit in the early autumn ( beginning of October ), not only single animals in their regular territory could be seen . At changing dive sites of the kilometre-long reef young groupers appeared in company strength . Sometimes crowded together , around 50 or more , each 30 to 50 centimetres large , the animals behave like swarming fish .
Those who quietly approached them came up to the shortest distance . For underwater photographers regarding the choice of the lens for the dive this is called „ underwater roulette “. With the macro lens you manage to take photos of individual animals from a certain distance , even with a diver ( see photo above ). However , normally those
