J ust get on the plane , sit back and relax – and let it be the easy way of travelling ! Looking forward to a flight time of only about five hours , that ’ s almost perfect . Actually the ideal distance for your diving holiday . And to know that there are big fish in the reefs – who would not like to see that ? Fortunately , you will find all this at about 100 kilometres off West Africa .
The Canary Islands do not have coral reefs – but that ‘ s nothing new to European divers . Logically , this also applies to Fuerteventura . Nevertheless you dive through a breathtaking ambience . On many dives there is a high probability of encounters with big fish . The area around the resort village of Caleta de Fuste is a prime example of this . Barely ten kilometres south of Fuerteventura International Airport there is a remarkable exciting diving area .
One almost can consider the question „ diving from the shore or by boat “ in a philosophical way . If not for the fact that there are divers who simply can not stand long boat rides . But let ‘ s be honest : a few steps to the boat instead of a walk in full gear from the parking lot to the water sounds really better .
Of course you find cleaning stations in the waters of the Eastern Atlantic , too
After all if the trip to the target area is short . Soon after boarding you already stop right above the dive site . Off we go , deflate the BCDf and let the dive start . That has something , just don ‘ t think of the small waves on the way ...
That ‘ s the way it works for Deep Blue Diving , the base from Volker Berbig and Roland Martensson . „ If we choose a dive spot with long dis tance ride , that ‘ s just 20 minutes by boat ,“ the always cheerful , passionate diver Berbig chuckles with a smile , while Swedish-born Martensson complements in German with the typical Scandinavian accent : „ Our short distances trips last just five min utes , so the boat engine will not even get really warm .“ Though , nei ther those nor the other dive sites are embarrassment solutions .
Except in the top of the bay in front of the Barcelò Resort , Caleta de Fuste does not have the mega beach as it is to be found in the south on the peninsula of Jandia or in the north near Corralejo .
