The official name of the crater lake is Grand Bassin
33 metre high statue of the god Shiva , erected in 2007 , and the equally tall sculpture of the goddess Durga Mata , built in 2017 at Grand Bassin , a sacred lake for Hindus . In addition to its geographical name , the crater lake of an extinct volcano is also known as Ganga Talao – water of Ganges . This might give you an idea of the importance of the pilgrimage site with its several temples : it is the largest Hindu sanctuary outside India .
