The impressive stock anchor probably belonged to a large 17th century sailing ship
schools of fusiliers as well as blue-striped snappers and often large green turtles .
The „ Silver Star “ is still undoubtedly one of the most notable scuttled wrecks off Mauritius . The 38 metre long ex-trawler is also only a ten minute boat ride from the diving centre away and has been at a depth of 40 metres since 1991 . This makes the dive site one of the deepest that the Orca Dive Club Mauritius has on its map .
Although the ravages of time and rust are gnawing away at the wreck , every dive here is nevertheless worthwhile . Underwater photographers will have just as much fun here as all divers who love marine animals . The abundance of fish on and around the artificial wreck is remarkable . Sometimes it is difficult to take a picture of the ship , on which it clearly and unmistakably plays the most important role .
There are plenty of photo opportunities : for wide-angle shots at a short distance from the subject , such as the remains of the former bridge or the propeller , as well as photos with other lenses for the typical sea creatures of the area . These include batfish , the occasional barracuda , various species of swarmfish , but also the usual suspects from octopus to shrimps and nudibranchs .
