Fuerteventura is well known to almost all lovers of long sandy beaches . Apart from the protected dune landscape of Corralejo , these are mainly located on the Jandia peninsula in the south .

A view of Fuerteventura using Google Earth immediately reveals that a light-coloured zone in the south stands out clearly from the reddish-brown main part of the island . This area , called Istmo de la Pared , marks the beginning of the Jandia peninsula . Because bathing and swimming is too dangerous on the west coast due to the permanently extremely strong currents , there are only hotels on the east coast of the 60 square kilometre area . A lively party zone , too ?
