Actually , there is not only the Big Reef and the Small Reef off Morro Jable . The latter is very close by and is – of course – somewhat smaller : 50 metres shorter and five metres less deep , i . e . around 35 metres maximum . Like its big sister about 100 metres from the beach , it can also be dived on foot and by boat .
This does not apply to the outside of the harbour wall . But at less than four minutes , it is probably the shortest approach of all the dive sites off Fuerteventura . “ Incidentally , nobody should be confused by supposedly shallow diving depths in advance . Even though our dinghy is robust and designed for rough seas , it ’ s the only way we can get to this spot ,” says Nicolas “ Nico ” Caballero with a grin . He has been based in Morro Jable since 2016 and is certain : “ The outside of the harbour pier is a top spot .”
Huge shoals feel just as at home above the barely twelve metre deep bottom as groups of cuttlefish . Sea hares and magnificent Felimare nudibranchs crawl along the ground ,
