Diving for Life, DFL 2011 Cozumel Mexico Diving Jamboree Volume 1 | Page 9

BEAUTIFUL Steve Graham was one of the attendees, a veteran of DFL! he must have attended most of the 20 years DFL has been in existence. He walked around the resort, cane in hand, slowly, but surely, he got there! sometimes in the pool, sometimes in the dining area and sometimes just back to his room with Dennis and Allen. The first night I met him, he whispered few simple words to my ears,“ You are beautiful!” I reflected back,“ Steve... YOU ARE too!”
MOM & DAD Kelly is one of the directors. I sat down with her and question after question, she answered them all. I was excited to be there, and I wanted to know about the entity DFL has been and the people who worked countless hours to make this event go smoothly, fun, financially sound and sustainable! Though not feeling 100 # herself, she’ s there to do what she said she’ d do. Last Tuesday night at my very first night dive, Kelly and David Doom $ like our dive Mom & Dad % waved goodbye and wished us well as we departed for our night dive! to some of us, it was our very first night dive. Full of excitement and some apprehension, flashlights in hand, wet suit and all our dive gears, we got ready as our boat proceeded to our destination, the Paradise Reef. Kelly and David stood there waving goodbye to us! I waved goodbye, and lo and behold, the men infront of me had their dive gears on but they seemed to all have forgotten to put on their pants! I thought it was a bit soon to see Sea Cucumbers! Later on I’ d realize that the real Sea Cucumbers are much, much bigger! But maybe on the next night dive, I’ ll try that too! When we got back from an incredible night dive, Kelly was there to welcome us back. Perhaps the sigh of relief came over her when all divers were accounted for. $ Where the heck was David!% David was the very first one I met at the resort on Day 1! welcoming the arriving DFL participant, divers and their partners and / or friends! I felt home!
