CARL We’ re both DFL first! timers. Carl, a great conversationalist has hundreds of dives. Me, a dozen. He quickly made friends with people at the pool, and one of the unforgettable sight at the pool was witnessing him having a blast $ big grin on his face % piggy! backed by Nick! I’ m glad he’ s having a great time! People asked if we’ re together, and we say,“ We are together, but we’ re not doing‘ IT!’” Carl is a new friend, very good one to converse with! A dive! partner!
On a few occasions we both had managed to witness a gardener! undistracted by all of us, trimming the landscaping painstakingly throughout the resort. It was as if we’ re saying grace, but not before a meal, but within the resort we call home for now. We had realized that the gardener and resort sta " have families they sustain, and their contribution to our well! being is immense. Our presence provided them with much needed wages during the slowest season of the year.“ Do you realize that there are workers in here who are up hours before we wake up so that we’ ll have freshly cooked breakfast?” Carl would say.“ And there are workers who’ d stay for many hours cleaning up after the last call at the bar?” A self! proclaimed Atheist, Carl is one of the most spiritual beings I’ ve met in this lifetime!

I remember the woman cooking the omelettes at her station at the end of the bu " et line; looking at her, I feel like she might be feeling tired, but softly I thank her too for getting up so early to fix us breakfast. What she ate earlier to sustain her now gives her the energy to do her job cooking for us. Now we partake of all the food before us! and Carl and I have talked about this, we tried to imagine the many people involved in getting the food to our table at this moment, the sun that provided the energy to make them grow! sounds like we’ d smoked something organic, but it’ s our way of giving thanks, this moment.
