with many patients , which included treatments for malaria and surgeries .
Momah completed her residency in 2012 at Wright State University ’ s Boonshoft School of Medicine in Fairborn , Ohio , after which she received a fellowship in gastroenterology from the University of Kentucky .
She eventually joined the staff of Ascension St . Vincent Anderson , where she ’ s been for the past seven years .
Momah advises aspiring physicians to find a mentor and be willing to put in the work .
“ For anything you want to do , you have to be interested in it , you have to love it well enough to sacrifice other things ,” Momah says . “ If you love it that much and you ’ re motivated , put your head down and put in the work .”
Carrie Hyatt , a medical assistant in Momah ’ s office , said , as a Black woman , Momah inspires her with her work ethic and willingness to help , even when it ’ s inconvenient .
“ I tell her every day , ‘ I ’ m going to be in here with a white coat soon ,’” Hyatt says . “ Watching an African American woman be advanced as she is with the medical world and how she teaches us . She ’ s a doctor , but she ’ s also a teacher .” •
