STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS , OBJECTIVES , AND STRATEGIES
GOAL 4
CREATE A ROBUST CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR FRAMEWORK TO ADVANCE DIVERSITY , EQUITY , AND INCLUSION
The objectives in this section build upon the commitment our institution has made to provide learning environments and experiences that will enhance student capacity to work effectively towards advancing social justice in a diverse world . Students will develop an understanding of historic and contemporary challenges related to social justice , starting with the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy ( Immigration , Women , Earth , Anti-Racism , and Non-Violence ) that will lead them towards living meaningful lives of radical Mercy .
These objectives will encourage innovation that infuse inclusive excellence into teaching and promote equitable environments for learning with a more inclusive curriculum , programing , and pedagogies , intentionally integrating DEI throughout the entire student experience .

Review of general education curriculum to incorporate diversity and intercultural education as a directly expressed and essential element of a Mercy liberal-arts education
Hold a program curricular review to incorporate diversity and intercultural education
Strengthen core courses such as FirstYear Experience ( FYE1000 and 1001 ) and seminar courses to go beyond the Critical Concerns and include DEI
Partner with the developing Center for Teaching and Learning to infuse inclusive excellence into teaching and promote equitable and inclusive environments for learning
