3D printed terracotta tiles are the latest
innovation of artificial reefs.
The tiles were recently deployed in Hong
Kong's Hui Ha Wan Park, a Biodiversity
Area of Excellence, a joint innovation of
architects and marine scientists at the
University of Hong Kong.
Hoi Ha Wan is home to three-quarters of
Hong Kong's coral reefs and more than
120 species of fish, but biological erosion,
coral bleaching, and coral killing have
endangered the area's reefs.
