Embracing Inner Brilliance A Collaborative Piece by the Writers, Editors, and Publisher of The DIVA Zone Magazine.
The words of Queen Chaka Khan are ever-present in our minds, on our playlist, and in our spirited celebrations: " I’ m Every Woman, It ' s All In Me." We are superwomen with invisible capes, and the divine, amazing expression of The Lord Our God in feminine form. Yet, if we were honest, we would most certainly agree that, in our daily routines and rituals of caring for others, we lose ourselves in the process of being " Every Woman " to everyone around us.
The DIVA Zone Family relinquished ourselves of masks, facades, and reputations to share where and in what areas we feel we need recalibration and resetting. As you read the Q & A answers from each contributor, we pray you see yourselves and begin asking the same questions, and, if you are brave enough, share your brief answers with us at admin @ divazonemagazine. com. Who knows? You may just see your words featured in a future issue, so please submit your photos with your answers.
Enjoy this exercise in self-discovery and affirmation.
DZ: What would you do if you were sure you could not fail? NB: I would completely open my heart to an honorable, humble, saved, secure, faithful, loving, intelligent Husband of God’ s choice. My“ type” has been yielded to God’ s best for my life.
DZ: What would you tell your 18 – 25-year-old self, based on what you know now? NB: Go to school and earn your Doctorate, the career will be there. Be secure with your intelligence and brilliance. Don’ t dumb yourself down to fit in, anywhere. Stay away from insecure and jealous people. Don’ t become hardened by this wicked world. Dream as big as you can because God is able to do so much more! Be content with being single and wait patiently yet expectantly for the King God has prepared for you, amazing Queen. Do. Not. Settle! You my dear, are ENOUGH.
DZ: How do you define success? NB: Being in complete alignment with God, mind, body, and spirit. When my Spiritual Fruit points to the redeeming work of God in my life. When I am surrendered completely to the will of God and my contribution in this life blesses those around me and leads them closer to God, that is success. Creating legacy that continues to minister and serve for the good of others after I am home with my Heavenly Father, that is success.
DZ: What are daily / weekly self-care practices? NB: Early morning prayer and devotion are my non-negotiables. Sitting still with God to listen for my answers and next steps. A long hot bubble bath. Getting into bed by 9:00 pm to get a good night’ s rest. Listening to music. Sitting outside and taking an occasional walk to appreciate nature without distractions.
DZ: What promise have you made to yourself that you can say you are doing the work to fulfill now? NB: I am a fulltime seminary student working on my completing my Master of Divinity degree and going straight into the Doctor of Ministry program. Scaling DIVA Zone Magazine and taking it to the masses to share the word of God and highlight beautiful women everywhere.
NB: In the company of my sisters … there is joy, mutual respect, support, understanding, God’ s pure love.
NB: My daily practices of prayer and devotion … I rise early daily to pray and meditate on the word. Once I have had my personal devotion, I begin preparing in private to share in public via our DIVA Zone Community morning zoom three days a week. All are welcome to join us anytime. We meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:45 am est. The Zoom ID is 633 520 3697 and the Password is PRAY.
