Dr. Teresa R. Martin, Esq. from REIA
NYC. In addition to a long career in
real estate law, she has appeared
on the Voice of America, Real
Estate Straight Talk, and other radio
programs. She is the co-author of the
Amazon #1 bestseller, Entrepreneur
on Fire – Conversations with Visionary
Leaders with Barbara Corcoran, the
Billionaire Real Estate Mogul and star
of the hit ABC show Shark Tank. Dr.
Teresa R. Martin also the founder,
Generational Wealth Zone, LLC.
DZ: Would you like to start off by
telling us how did you fi rst get started
in Real Estate Investing?
TRM: I was bitten by the real estate
bug by my cousin, a successful real
estate investor. She was my mentor
and she shaped my thinking. She
taught me that my Financial Freedom
Day will arrive when my passive
income and semi-passive income
streams bring in more each month
than is needed to pay bills. So, the
journey began! I have always been
fi nancial freedom seeker with a goal
to get there by age 30. I hit the goal.
DZ: Tell us little bit about Generational
Wealth Zone?
TRM: Generational Wealth Zone is a
conduit that allows anyone to achieve
fi nancial freedom through tutelage in
the areas of fi nancial empowerment,
business ownership, and real estate
investing. We promote fi nancial
literacy through real estate with the
goal of connecting business, wealth,
and family together. This integration
is vital and also the thought-process
behind REIA NYC.
DZ: What is REIA NYC?
TRM: REIA is an acronym for Real
Estate Entrepreneurs & Investors
Association. It’s a community for real
estate entrepreneurs, investors, and
small business owners. And the NYC
actually stands for, Now You Can!
DZ: Now You Can?
TRM: Now you can invest in real
estate; Now you can build a successful
business; Now you can build your
own lifestyle; Now you can enjoy your
legacy.
DZ: That sounds quite positive.
What’s the story behind that?
TRM: After a great deal of refl ection,
I felt I needed to change the focus
of my association. We go beyond
traditional investing. REIA NYC is a
real estate investing education and
business development company,
providing the coaching, resources,
and tools needed to start a real estate
business. We provide investors with
the right education and the right
systems for success.
DZ: Sounds like REIA NYC seeks to
elevate the thinking of investors?
TRM: We do. Our goal is to develop
an entrepreneur mindset dedicated
to
overcoming
and
learning
from
obstacles.
By
educating
entrepreneurs in how to build their
businesses properly, we are able to
guide them towards creating capital
rather than becoming trapped in a
constant grind. It’s
about
developing
businesses that work
for you, not against
you. Whether through
building daily habits
or developing lasting
partnerships,
we
help integrate solid
practices that promote
success.
DZ: What’s the main
struggle of these small
businesses?
TRM: Most entrepreneurs
don’t know what path they’re
on. I help them understand
where they are and then
guide to the path that leads
to lasting success.
DZ: What types of paths are
there?
TRM: There are three. The
fi rst is the Bridge Is Out Path. This
path is brutal and often leads to a
loss of personal assets, relationships,
and more. Then there’s the Path to
Nowhere where owners create a long
hour, low paying job rather than a
business. Finally, we have the Success
Path. This is where you need to be.
This path creates lasting revenue and
a high quality of life, but only about
3% of small businesses make it onto
this path.
DZ: And how do you help
entrepreneurs reach this path?
TRM: The fi rst step is to take my
Success Assessment. We perform
an in-depth analysis of your
busines
s, see where you’re
at, then work together to determine
the right success path for you.
Whether real estate investments or
other entrepreneurial venture, the
goal is to create at least $125,000
in owner’s discretionary revenue
where the valuation of your business
will be $500K or more and be very
attractive to potential buyers. Think
of it as house fl ipping but with small
businesses.
