President’s Message
President Jordan Lee,
Utility Service Company
I hope that everyone who was
affected by Hurricane Irma is
recovering and life is getting
back to normal, if it hasn’t
already.
For those who attended the
Presidents Cup and the Poker
Tournament, thank you for
coming and I hope you had
as much fun as I did! Those
of you who missed it-you
missed a great time and a
beautiful course. I¹d like to
thank the golf committee
for all their hard work and
compliment them for such a
great event!
I would like to go down an
avenue that isn’t so much fun,
but it needs to be addressed.
We are an association that
is supported and run by
our members. We have
an awesome membership
base made up of some
of the best people I have
ever met, but we have a
problem. Participation and
membership. We need to
do everything we can to
boost membership and
participation at our events.
Our membership dues are
what support the association
and allow it to function. At the
current rate, we can survive
but there is absolutely no
room for error. The events
we put on help boost-up
the association. They are our
only other means of funding,
and we need these events
to be our ³savings account²
so to speak. If you haven¹t
attended an event before I
invite you to do so. Don¹t be
afraid, you¹ll have more fun
than you can even imagine
and will meet new people at
every one. If you do attend an
event, shoot for a second or
third. There are many events
being held at a local level and
at the state level. I believe
our next event is the ASJMSF
bass fishing tournament.
This tournament is the sole
funding mechanism for
the Andrew Scott Johnson
Memorial Scholarship. As a
salt water guy, I can tell you
I¹m not huge on freshwater
fishing but this tournament is
one of the best times fishing
I have ever had. To recap,
we need you to get out and
recruit new members. It is a
necessity that we increase
our numbers because if
we don¹t we will be on very
unstable ground. Also, please
get involved in both the
local and state events. We
need your help to make the
association better, and you¹ll
also meet new people and
have a really good time.
help fund our political
contributions. It is called
Bidding for Benjamins. Every
project that you bid, please
plan on a $100 donation. If
you¹re awarded the project
please send your check in
that day. This contest is open
to everyone-contractors,
suppliers, accountants,
lawyers (we mean new clients
there, you know, in case the
jury doesn’t go your way)! The
contest is for bragging rights
only and there will be an
update in the Ditchmen each
month. The 2017 contest will
begin November 1 and will
end December 31, 2017. With
2018 comes a new year and
a fresh ³challenge² beginning
January 1. Let¹s see how good
you are!
Thank y¹all again for allowing
me the opportunity to lead
this association, and please
help me keep it moving in
the right direction! Ok-very
last thing. Please join us in
Tallahassee for the Legislative
Days, Feb. 5-6!
